Jane Adams is the former Vice President of University Relations for the University of Florida, where she was responsible for government relations, public relations, marketing and external relations at the national, state and local levels. She retired from the university in May 2018.
Ms. Adams joined the University of Florida in October 2004, after serving as a public affairs executive with The Walt Disney Company for more than ten years. Her positions included Vice President of Government Relations, Director of Public Affairs, and Manager of Media Relations for Walt Disney World and Director of Communications and Public Relations for Disney Cruise Line. She also helped to create and served as administrator for the Disney Wildlife Conservation Fund, which provides annual grants to environmental and wildlife conservation organizations worldwide.
Prior to coming to Disney, Ms. Adams was Vice President of Media Relations in the Washington, D.C. office of Burson-Marsteller, a global public relations firm. There, she managed media relations for clients involved in energy, environmental and other public policy issues.
From 1981 to 1990, Ms. Adams was a Press Secretary in the United States Senate, where she worked for Senator Ted Stevens and Senator Frank Murkowski, both of Alaska.
Ms. Adams served in leadership positions with numerous organizations during her career. She is presently a member of the Board of Directors for the Children’s Home Society of Florida.
Ms. Adams is a graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Political Science. She resides in Orlando.
